Principal Resigns Over 'Intifada' T-Shirts
NEW YORK (Aug. 11) - An Arabic-themed public school will still open in September, despite the abrupt departure of its embattled principal, the city Department of Education said.

Debbie Almontaser resigned as principal of an Arab-themed public school in New York Friday after she was criticized for being part of group selling shirts imprinted with the words "Intifada NYC."
That group is selling shirts imprinted with the words "Intifada NYC." It shares office space with the Saba Association of American Yemenis, which counts Almontaser among its board members.

The tabloid asserted the shirts had a subversive meaning: "The inflammatory tees boldly declare 'Intifada NYC' - apparently a call for a Gaza-style uprising in the Big Apple."

Khalil Gibran International AcademyAn Arabic Public School should be controversial enough considering the U.S. governments view over 'separation of church and state'. Could this be a glimpse into the future of New York and other major melting pot metropolises in America? Is the possibility of a Paris like Muslim uprising and rioting looming on the horizon for America? Foreign nationals used to come to America because they were offered democracy and the freedoms promised to U.S. citizens. A hardliner Muslim cultural change would reverse the freedoms shared by U.S. citizens. What about a Christian themed public school? I don't believe the liberal segments of government, the ACLU, or any other anti-Christian organization would stand for a Christian themed public school. You could bet your bottom and your top USA dollar against this type of public funding. IN a majority rule democracy even the best of moral laws and culture are in danger of extinction. The Christian community is being pushed ever deeper into a secluded corner of American culture which I believe is one more step toward the removal of God blessing America. All of these events may very well be in God's grandioso plan for the unavailing of The Apocalyptic End times.

Truth Matters

Members of the Episcopal Church must brace themselves these days when they pick up the newspaper. The church is currently roiled by controversies over homosexuality and a host of other issues. Indeed, the Episcopal Church USA is in danger of losing its relationship with the larger Anglican Communion over the issue of homosexuality alone.

As if that were not sufficient to fret the faithful, along comes the Rev. Ann Holmes Redding of Seattle and her claim to be both an Episcopal priest and a practicing Muslim. She is serious, of course, which is what makes the story so interesting.

This is yet another reminder of the basic principle that religious liberals can negotiate themselves to any position they choose. Once you commit yourself to a methodology of denying Scripture and orthodox Christian doctrine, you can declare yourself to be a Christian and a Muslim, a Christian and a Druid, a Christian and an atheist for that matter. Truth matters.

Bible Translations

A visitor to our website asked:
A quick question, you say on your page stating your beliefs that the bible is without error. What bible would that be? the KJV, NIV, NASV, MSG.. which one?

Great question!
I study from several translation at the same time to get a complete overview of the text. I use Greek translating tools to check the orginal language and definitions as I study. The New Amercan Standard 95 update is one of the most accurate word for word translations of the origianal language. You may want to invest in some bible software and I suggest Logos software.

The original O.T. Hebrew / Aramaic and N.T. Greek would be the best bible to read if we were all language experts and could read the original manuscripts. Not many people read and write in these ancient dead languages.

In English, not all translations are word for word and may vary in what they say but short of a rewritten cultic versions,(ie. The New World Translation ) what we have today is the Word of God in our language. The greater understanding comes through the power of the Holy Spirit as He and The Logos (Jesus ) reveals and confirms the truth in our hearts. When we listen to the Spirit of God we should come to the same conclusions. (Hebrews 5:14)

When it comes to interpretation of the bible, why are there so many discrepancies in different people groups? This could be any number of problems: Spiritual immaturity, unlearned and unwilling to study, argumentative personalities, carnality, and just plain unsaved people who believe and proclaim they are saved. (2 Peter 1:19-21) America's Pulpits are filled with carnal unsaved preachers (Matthew 7:19-23) and false teachers. (Col 2:18–19, 2 Cor 11:13-15, Jer 14:14, Jer 23:26, Rom 16:18, Eph 4:14, 2 Pet 2:13) By the grace of God and the power of the Holy Spirit, you can discern the differnence.

Through the centuries, the practitioners of textual criticism, a precise science, have discovered, preserved, cataloged, evaluated, and published an amazing array of biblical manuscripts from both the Old and New Testaments. In fact, the number of existing biblical manuscripts dramatically outdistances the existing fragments of any other ancient literature. By comparing text with text, the textual critic can confidently determine what the original prophetic/apostolic, inspired writing contained.

The New Testament findings are even more decisive because a much larger amount of material is available for study; there are over 5,000 Greek New Testament manuscripts that range from the whole testament to scraps of papyri which contain as little as part of one verse . A few existing fragments date back to within 25–50 years of the original writing. New Testament textual scholars have generally concluded that 1) 99.99 percent of the original writings have been reclaimed, and 2) of the remaining one hundredth of one percent, there are no variants substantially affecting any Christian doctrine.

How I was saved.

I was raised in a Christian house hold all of my life. Some people believe this is how you become a Christian. My parents were Christians therefore I must be a Christian too. When I was six years old, my mother and brother were talking about his baptism. One Sunday morning, during the alter call I followed my brother down the long stairway from the balcony of the church to the front row. We found ourselves sitting with a pastor answering questions about the bible. I didn't know all of the right answers so I said yes when my brother did and no when he said no. Our baptisms were setup for the next Sunday. I made a decision to follow my brother in baptism rather than becoming a follower of Jesus.

At the age of 21, my life seemed to be unraveled and I experienced a period of aimless wandering. I literally felt lost in a life without direction, purpose, or connection of any kind. My state of mind deteriorated from bad to worse, as life seemed to pass me in a quandary of unfulfilled circumstances.

One night after work, I found myself all alone in the home where I grew up. In the front living room, I heard a familiar voice on the television. It was the last five minutes of a Billy Graham television crusade. Billy made a statement, which pierced through my heart and soul. He said, "When you came into this place tonight, you thought you were saved, but you realized something is missing in your life. That something is Jesus and you need a personal relationship with the Son of God." I suddenly realized the decision I had made was just a mimic of my brother's actions.

I knew then that growing up in a Christian home did not make me a Christian. I grasped the picture of baptism as dying and rising up with Christ. Baptism without understanding and believing for myself was not an act of faith but and the act of a copycat.

That night I fell on my knees, made that decision my own, and gave my life to Jesus. I finally understood that Jesus was my only hope of knowing God and being in His family forever. Would you tell me how and when you made your decision to love Jesus?
